THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER FORMATTING

The fact is, many companies are using Applicant Tracking Software to weed out as many applicants as possible who apply for jobs online. In short, a computer is often the first one to read your resume, not a person. While we want to be sure it looks nice and clean, we can't underestimate the importance of readability for a computer. Therefore, it is best to keep tables, headers/footers, text-boxes, and clipart in a resume to a minimum. Lots of modern and fabulous looking templates incorporate these features, not only making it hard to edit, but making it hard for a computer to read the content inside them.

Don't fall victim to an ATS. One thing I hate to see most is a great candidate not getting their foot in the door because of this or because they didn't realize how illegible their resume was on a mobile device.

THE FORMATTING PROCESS

① Upon your purchase, you will receive a message from me with detailed instructions. From there, you can pick from collection of winning templates or send me your current one that needs to be re-formatted.

② I start to send you drafts and you tell me what you like and don’t like. When you LOVE it, I’ll send you the .doc and the.pdf. At that point the sale is complete. Once you have your files, you can make easy changes on your own or start to send your .pdf resume off to that potential employer right away.

► An important note about processing times. A lot of my customers order multiple items such as a cover letter and a resume. Due to the time it takes to write resumes, they are done first. The processing time for your next item will begin after the first draft of your resume is complete. If you would like a custom order for faster processing on all items, please message me.

Do you accept custom orders?

Absolutely. All of my products are technically custom orders! If you are not sure I can meet your needs, please CONVO me and I will answer any questions quickly.

How long do I get to make changes?

Once your resume is delivered, you have 4 business days to make as many edits as you like. Unlimited daily revisions works much better for buyers as they are not limited to a set number of drafts. For example, if you receive your first draft on a Tuesday, your last day of editing would be Monday. Please note, buyers are *strongly encouraged to begin sending their edits on the first business day. If the buyer waits until the last day to send their first round of edits, it leaves no time for a third draft. If they want extra editing days, they can be purchased separately.

What is ATS?

What is ATS? ATS stands for Applicant Tracking System. This is an automated device that companies use to filter out resumes based on certain criteria and search items. Each resume we do will feature a skills section specifically based on the idea that we want you to get past the ATS. Based upon the information you provide to us about the job(s) you are looking to apply, we will tailor your skills to fit the job description, resulting in a ATS approval. Therefore a heavily formatted resume template with boxes and grids make it difficult for an ATS to find the keywords.

➜ I do not recommend complex templates unless you are printing off and hand delivering them. They are not for general job applications that are web-based.

Can you tell me if I need rewrite before I purchase?

Absolutely, please send a convo before purchasing and we will let you know the best option for you. You may benefit more from a critique or a re-design rather than a whole resume writing and format package.

Custom and personalized orders

Due to the extensive editing required, any type of resume or CV that is 3 or more pages has a different base price. Similarly, if you currently have multiple types of resumes that you need combined into 1 traditional resume, the higher base price would also apply.

What is your refund policy?

I am confident that you will love your resume. I make it a priority to establish your resume goals before beginning to work on the first draft. Due to the fully customized nature of this product, full refunds *cannot* be given. I also offer a 4-business day edit timeframe so that you get what you want combined with a professional's recommendations.

The scope of what you desire in a final resume is established at the beginning of this process. Critiques of your new resume (by colleagues or other resume writing sites) offered to you after the order has been completed do not merit a refund.

Remember, resumes are but 1 tool in your modern job-hunting toolbox and they are aimed at getting you an interview for a specific position.

RESUME WRITING CUSTOMERS - How does the revision process work? What is the project time?

Project Timeline

Based on the processing time selected at checkout, buyers receive their first draft within 2-5 business days. From the date of delivery, buyers will then have an additional 4 business days to make unlimited revisions. Any changes after the 4 business days will incur a fee.

How long do I get to make changes?

The buyer reviews their resume closely and meticulously in draft form over email. They can then make their list of changes, comments, additions, corrections, etc and list them in a reply email. They are also welcomed to use the track changes option in Word. I’ve even had folks take a photo from their phone or print the document and make notes on it in pen – whatever works best for you!

RESUME WRITING CUSTOMERS - What will my final resume look like? What attachments do I get?

Your final email from me would contain the following if you purchased the Resume Writing product:

1) your fresh new resume in a .doc and a .pdf
2) any new fonts that are needed for you to install on your machine (not common)
3) my e-guide to changing careers and
4) a matching cover letter template in .doc form.

Items 3 and 4 are my free gifts to you for your purchase.

How soon should I send you my materials?

Promptly. If you need a couple of days to gather materials, no problem but please let me know. I will adjust your timeline for the orders as needed. If I do not hear anything from the buyer within 3 days of purchasing the product, I will cancel and fully refund the order.

The only reason I'm giving only 4 stars is because I'm still in the job search process so I'm not sure how potential employers like my new resume. I, however, think it looks great!
